As long as I can remember I was loving Christmas. The fact that the entire family
was meeting up and I was allowed to stay up late was enough to get me excited as
a child.
On the 23rd we always put up our tree and the three girls of my family ( Mama, my little sister and me ) decorate it. In most years I am keeping up the „tradition“ of breaking anornament.
On the 24th we visit the church together at about 6 o'clock. Adittedly the song
Silent Night always makes me cry.
When we were little the wait started now.... Until the „Christkind“ rang it's bell.
Only then we were allowed in the living room again and saw our presents that
suddenly appeared under our tree.
These days we simply put the presents under the tree when we decorade at the 23rd.
For dinner we often eat fish, cheese and fresh bread on Christmas Eve …and of course lots of christmas cookies and champagne.
The next day we mostly have a big family lunch with dumplings, goose and
red cabbage.
Christmas is celebrated a bit different everywhere. So I would be curious
to read how you spend yours.
